OTTAWAY: ACTION ON CANE HILL AT LAST

Richard Ottaway, Conservative Member of Parliament for Croydon South, has given a warm welcome to the Government's announcement that Cane Hill is to be sold for housing.

"At last the inaction over Cane Hill is coming to an end. It is nearly ten years since Croydon Council proposed Cane Hill as a science park. It has been perfectly obvious for many years that this was lacking in credibility and economically infeasible."

"The important thing is to make any housing development a sustainable community. It should be built with jobs and infrastructure in mind and provide a mixture of housing."

"It is such a tremendous site that it may be possible to integrate it with facilities for wider community use. Integration with the new relief-road is obviously important."
