OTTAWAY: CONCERN OVER POST OFFICE CLOSURES

Richard Ottaway, Conservative MP for Croydon South, has expressed his concerns about the proposed closure of five local Post Offices. It has been announced that the Post Office is planning to close the branches at:

  • Kenley - 84 Godstone Road, Kenley
  • Lacey Green - 221 Coulsdon Road, Coulsdon
  • Red Deer Parade - 252 Brighton Road, South Croydon
  • Station Parade - Sanderstead Road, South Croydon
  • Waddon - 337 Purley Way, Croydon

"I am very concerned at the impact these closures will have on local residents. In particular for the elderly, disabled and people with young families a local Post Office is extremely important in enabling them to manage their day to day lives independently."

"These closures will leave just nine branches to serve 140,000 people in Croydon South and seem likely to lead to lengthy queues at busy times."

At a time when many small businesses in local shopping parades are struggling to keep going it is most disappointing that the Post Office plans to withdraw its support in attracting shoppers."
