OTTAWAY SAYS "THROW THE BOOK AT RIOTERS"

Richard Ottaway, Conservative MP for Croydon South, has reacted strongly to the riots in Croydon on Sunday night after the England v France football match.

"There is absolutely no excuse for behaviour of this kind. Millions of people will
have been disappointed by the result of the match and 99.99% of them took it in
their stride."

"For fans to work out their disappointment on the Police is totally unacceptable
and I call on the authorities to press for the highest charges and maximum
sentences for those found guilty of public disorder."
