Ottaway supports Warm Homes Week

Richard Ottaway, Conservative MP for Croydon South, as a part of Warm Homes Week, today visited an elderly pensioner who has benefited from the installation of a state of the art central heating system. The new boiler and radiators were made available to Mr David Fry, in Kenley, under the Health Through Warmth Grant.

Richard Ottaway says:

"Health Through Warmth is a project that aims to improve the health and living conditions through the provision of a range of energy efficiency measures.

"By visiting a constituent's house I have been able to see for myself the benefits these grants can bring.

"In the UK death rates are much higher in the winter than in the rest of the year. Most of these excess winter deaths are basically caused by cold homes which exacerbate illnesses such as circulatory and respiratory diseases. The basic provision of central heating for such vulnerable people, does much to counter this."
