2nd December 2004 OTTAWAY PROTEST AS WAITING TIME FOR HEARING AIDS GOES UP Richard Ottaway, Conservative MP for Croydon South, is astonished to learn that the waiting time for hearing aids at Mayday Hospital is higher now than it was a year ago. He has written to the Minister for Health demanding an explanation - see letter attached. "Last year I wrote to the Minister for Health to alert him to the fact that residents in Croydon were having to wait 21 months for a hearing aid assessment. I was assured that the Government was taking steps to address the issue." "Twelve months on and I am told that the waiting time has actually increased to 22 months." "I am absolutely appalled that the situation has worsened: it is simply not good enough. It is completely unacceptable for elderly people to be waiting nearly two years for an assessment and I have written to the Minister once again to ask him what he is going to do about it."
