OTTAWAY SUPPORTS PURLEY FATHER'S NORTH POLE CHALLENGE

Richard Ottaway, Conservative MP for Croydon South, has today announced that he will be sponsoring Juan Senor's fundraising expedition to the North Pole. As a farther of Mary Rose, who was born with Down's Syndrome three years ago, Juan Senor hopes that this Challenge will raise awareness of the value to society of children with Down's Syndrome.

Juan Senor will attempt to reach the North Pole on a 12 day expedition. This will involve six days of constant cross-country skiing, covering about 27km per day. To make things harder he will be carrying an 80 litre rucksack and pulling a 100kg sledge.

All profits from sponsorship of the expedition will go towards the Down's Clinic, which aims to improve the life of children with Down's Syndrome, and to Oakwood School in Surrey, a mainstream school accepting children with disabilities and giving them a head start in life.

Richard Ottaway says:-

"I am delighted to contribute to Juan's fundraising efforts especially as some of the money raised will go towards Oakwood School. The School plays a valuable role as it accepts children with disabilities giving them the best possible start in life."
