OTTAWAY CALLS ON COUNCIL TO FUND CCTV FOR SHELETERED HOUSING

Following attacks and vandalism at sheltered housing for the elderly in Southlands Close, Old Couldson, Richard Ottaway MP has called on Croydon Council to fund close circuit TV.

Richard Ottaway says:-

"Having recently visited Southlands Close I have heard first hand accounts of vandalism by local youths. The front door has been kicked in and windows are broken. The elderly residents are clearly terrified and in my view it is only a matter of time before something worse happens."

"The Police have recommended the installation of CCTV. Unfortunately, at the last round of CCTV approvals, Southlands Close was not included. Under the circumstances have written to the Chief Executive of Croydon Council asking if funds can be found for CCTV at Southlands Close as a matter of urgency".

Ends.
