LIVINGSTONE CANNOT TALK UP SCIENCE PARK WITHOUT COMMITTING TO RELIEF ROAD SAYS OTTAWAY

Richard Ottaway, Conservative Member of Parliament for Croydon South has said that the Mayor for London must back the Coulsdon Relief Road if the proposed science park at Cane Hill is to become a reality.

Richard Ottaway says:-

"As a London MP I have been asked to comment on the Mayor's draft London Plan. In this document, Cane Hill is described as one of London's few opportunities to develop a science park that will appeal to a wide range of occupiers. So the Mayor is clearly supportive."

"The Mayor must realise, however, that excellent transport links in this part of London are a pre-requisite for the development of a science park at Cane Hill. Why then has he twice postponed the construction of the Coulsdon Relief Road - an infrastructure project which would vastly improve transport in this part of London?"

"The Coulsdon Relief Road needs clear and unambiguous backing from the Mayor, rather than dither and delay, if a science park at Cane Hill is to become a reality."

Ends.
