Ottaway calls on Secretary of State to investigate Selsdon Car Park decision

Richard Ottaway, Conservative Member of Parliament for Croydon South, has today written to the Deputy Prime Minister, John Prescott, asking him to investigate the granting of planning permission for Sainsbury to build a supermarket on the Selsdon Car Park site (see letter attached).

Richard Ottaway says:-

"I am far from satisfied that this planning permission was granted on impartial grounds. There is every suggestion that the current traffic flows have been inaccurately assessed. That, coupled with the Council's desire to balance their books gives rise for concern."

"Under the circumstances I have written to the Secretary of State, asking him to look into the situation and evaluate whether or not the Council acted with due impartiality. If he finds that the Council has not acted impartially, I call on him to revoke their decision."
