OTTAWAY SUPPORTS FIREWORKS BILL

Richard Ottaway, Conservative Member of Parliament for Croydon South has supported Bill Tynan's Fireworks Bill which was given its Second Reading by the House of Commons last Friday 28th February. (see House of Commons Hansard for 28th February 2003)

Richard Ottaway said:-

"There is widespread concern over the growing use of fireworks. They are being set off at antisocial hours throughout the year in ever growing numbers."

"Apart from being a public nuisance, this can cause considerable distress to elderly people and animals. Like many in my constituency, I am particularly concerned abut animal welfare and the stress caused to animals, large and small, by the unregulated use of fireworks."
