Ottaway launches Purley Hospital redevelopment E-petition

Date Filed:  Friday, December 11, 2009

Richard Ottaway, Conservative MP for Croydon South, has published details of an online petition on his website to hold the Government to their pledge to re-develop Purley Hospital.

Richard said:

“A pledge was given to me on 16th October 2001 in The House of Commons by the then Secretary of State for Health, Hazel Blears MP, that Purley Hospital would get ‘..a first class out-patient and diagnostic centre .. to serve local residents. Confirming that the likelihood of the project actually happening was ‘extremely high’, the Minister added that ‘..this will be a magnificent centre to serve the local community’.

“That pledge is now 8 years old, the detailed plans are woefully out of date and there is no sign whatsoever of any development beginning.

“In the circumstances I am calling for the Government, together with Mayday Healthcare NHS Trust, to give Purley the promised new healthcare facility.

“I hope that local residents will log onto my website, www.richardottaway.com to register their dissatisfaction with the deplorable delay to this project and support my call for action.”
