Ottaway welcomes reprieve for Croydon Land Registry Office

Date Filed:  Thursday, March 18, 2010

CROYDON LAND REGISTRY SAVED!

Richard Ottaway, Conservative MP for Croydon South, is delighted to hear that the proposal to close the Croydon Land Registry office in Bedford Park, Croydon, has been abandoned. This follows keen lobbying by Richard, Croydon Council and the staff union.

Richard said:

“This is very exciting news for Croydon. The decision to not only keep the Croydon office open but to enlarge it, with the re-location of their Head Office there as well, is very warmly welcomed.

“I have been actively engaged with the consultation and met with staff and union representatives, before meeting with the Chief Executive of the Land Registry to make the case for retaining the Land Registry in Croydon.

“Croydon Land Registry office offers a pool of highly skilled professional staff, the office is new and purpose built, it is the only regional office making an operational profit and there are excellent transport links to the Croydon office for both staff and customers.

“I always believed that Croydon had a very strong case but I am delighted that the argument was persuasive enough to deliver such an excellent result.”
