Union thanks Ottaway for Croydon Land Registry U-Turn

Date Filed:  Thursday, April 01, 2010

Richard Ottaway, Conservative MP for Croydon South, has received thanks from the PCS Union Land Registry Croydon Branch for his assistance in saving the Croydon Land Registry Office.
In an e-mail addressed to Richard, Gerry Keay, Branch Chair of the PCS Union Land Registry Croydon Branch said:
"I have absolutely no doubt that your hard work in lobbying ministers and raising questions in the House was a major factor in the reversal of the decision to close the Land Registry Office in Croydon and save the jobs of over 150 staff working in the Borough. Many thanks again for your all hard work and most valuable assistance in campaigning to save this office and the attendant jobs in the Borough.”
Richard said:

“Naturally I am absolutely delighted to have been of assistance in reversing the proposal to close the Croydon office and with the welcome transfer of staff from Head Office to the Croydon site, its future looks secure. I always believed that Croydon had a very strong case but I am delighted that the argument was persuasive enough to deliver such an excellent result.”
